Cuban President offers condolences, stresses brotherly ties with Iran
The Cuban President and his Foreign Minister offer condolences on the martyrdom of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions at the Iranian Embassy in the capital, Havana.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez offered condolences on the passing away of former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, former Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their companions at the Iranian Embassy in Havana.
In his message of condolences, Diaz-Canel expressed that he will always remember "the sincere friendship demonstrated in fruitful meetings, where mutual interest in advancing development in both countries and combating injustice in the world was expressed."

He added that the Iranian people and their leadership can rely on Cuba's support, stating, "We know they will find the strength to defend the great dreams of peace and national, regional, and international prosperity to which President Raisi dedicated his life."
Following the death of the Iranian President and his Foreign Minister, the Cuban President posted on X, expressing deep sorrow on behalf of the ruling party, government, and people of Cuba for the loss of "a great friend, a respected politician, and beloved by his people."
Additionally, the Cuban Foreign Minister offered heartfelt condolences earlier following the passing away of President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and their companions, reaffirming Cuba's support and solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Upon announcing the death of the Iranian president, his foreign minister, and their companions, Cuba announced a public day of mourning.
According to the Iranian state-owned media outlet IRNA, Cuba declared a nationwide day of mourning, starting at 6:00 am on Tuesday until Wednesday noon, in solidarity with the Islamic Republic. The Cuban flag was also flown at half-mast across the nation.
In a statement, Cuba said its government and people share this "painful moment" with Iran and expressed faith that it would recover and continue as it always has after the unfortunate incident.
