Cyprus President expresses support for 'Israel' in meeting with Herzog
The Cypriot President expressed his solidarity with the settler-colonial occupation.
Cyprus' governmental press and information office said on Thursday that Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog for talks about recent developments in the region, bilateral relations, energy, and relations between the EU and "Israel."
"President Christodoulides, we are extremely happy that you are here, and you should know that the fact that you've come here this morning when Israel is under attack from Gaza ... means a lot to us," Herzog said in the statement after the meeting at the Presidential Palace in occupied Al-Quds, adding that "Israel" would like to further enhance its diplomatic relations with Cyprus.
Glad to host President @Christodulides of Cyprus, who came to express support and solidarity as Israel comes under fire from enemies in Gaza. This is a symbol of true friendship and evidence of the strong alliance we share. 🇮🇱🤝🇨🇾 pic.twitter.com/5O9UhmOdCG

The Cypriot President on his part condemned what he described as a "recent terrorist attack" on "Israel and its people" and said that Cyprus stands in solidarity with the settler-colonial entity, failing to mention the Israeli aggression against Gaza and its people.
"Let me start by clearly and strongly condemning the recent terrorist attack. Let me assure you that Cyprus stands by your side and will continue to work together to face this kind of unacceptable acts," Christodoulides said, adding that there are several fields of interest in which Cyprus and "Israel" could potentially cooperate, including energy, the economy, defense as well as research and innovation.
The Cypriot leader said he would present "a very specific proposal" in his forthcoming talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli occupation continues its heinous aggression against the Gaza Strip for the third day in a row, while the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the number of Palestinians martyred, as a result, has risen to 25, in addition to more than 70 injuries.
The Palestinian Resistance renewed its rocket fire toward the occupied Palestinian territories. Al Mayadeen correspondent reported that successive salvoes of rockets were fired from Gaza on Thursday, as warning sirens sounded in the Gaza envelope settlements.
