Damascus, Tehran discuss bilateral relations
Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad tells his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian that his country is ready to hold a Joint Supreme Commission meeting to develop cooperation.
Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian held a phone conversation and discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and issues of common interest.
A statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry said today, Thursday, that "Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad discussed with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a phone call, issues of common interest, bilateral relations, and some regional and international issues."
Amir-Abdollahian: We are satisfied with continuous cooperation at different levels
Amir-Abdollahian expressed his satisfaction with the continuity of cooperation at different levels between Tehran and Damascus, in addition to the efforts the two countries have been making to develop relations.
Iranian Foreign Minister said that "Messages are currently being exchanged between Tehran and Washington through the Europeans, and we have repeatedly stressed that we will not back down from our red lines."
Amir-Abdollahian pointed out that "the diplomatic track is going well, and we have not moved away from reaching a good and sustainable agreement."
He also condemned the Israeli occupation's violations in Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Mekdad: We appreciate Iran's firm position in support of the Palestinian cause
For his part, the Syrian Foreign Minister expressed his "satisfaction with the bilateral relations that are progressing" and announced "Damascus' readiness to hold a Joint Supreme Commission meeting to develop cooperation as soon as possible."
Mekdad also condemned the violations of the Zionist entity in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, adding that "we appreciate Iran's firm position in support of the Palestinian cause."
