Diaz-Canel sends warm greetings to Al Mayadeen after crew killed
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel reiterates his solidarity with Al Mayadeen after the Israeli assassination of its reporter Farah Omar and cameraman Rabih Me'mari.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel sent on Friday greetings to Al Mayadeen Media Network in a post on X.
"We send warm greetings to our brothers at Al Mayadeen who feel sorrow over the assassination of journalist Farah Omar and cameraman Rabih Me'mari," Diaz-Canel wrote, attaching an image of the two martyrs to his post.
He continued, "Another crime perpetrated by Israel. This adds up to 48 media professionals killed for denouncing the genocide," concluding his post with #FreePalestine.

Farah and Rabih were martyred on Tuesday by an Israeli drone that deliberately targeted them. Our beloved colleagues consistently reported on Israeli atrocities in southern Lebanon despite Israeli threats.
Earlier, the Cuban President led a popular march of thousands of Cubans along the central Malecon street to express their support for the Palestinian cause and condemn the crimes of the Israeli occupation.
Invited by the Cuban Young Communist League, participants chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian people. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla took part in the march, as well as the Secretary-General of the Workers' Central Union of Cuba Ulises Guilarte, and the Palestinian Ambassador to Cuba Akram Samhan.
The Cuban Interior Ministry said on X that 100,000 people took part in the hour-long march. It was the biggest of several such pro-Palestinian rallies held in Cuba since the Israeli aggression on Gaza started on October 7.
The march passed by the US Embassy in Cuba, where some participants raised banners that read, "This embassy sponsors terrorism" and carried Palestinian flags.

During the march, Diaz-Canel was seen chanting, "Long live the Palestinian people's struggle."
Cuban youths condemned the murder of Al Mayadeen's reporter Farah Omar and cameraman Rabih Me'mari, who were martyred in a deliberate attack by the Israeli occupation in South Lebanon, and carried the two martyrs' pictures and expressed solidarity with Al Mayadeen.
In a recent meeting with Palestinian students in Cuba, Diaz-Canel reiterated his country's support for occupied Palestine and its people.
Last month, the Cuban President strongly condemned the Israeli bombing of civilians in Gaza and the destruction of their homes, hospitals, and civil infrastructure.
Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on October 7, the Cuban Foreign Ministry affirmed that this escalation comes as a result of 75 years of permanent violation of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and of "Israel's" aggressive and expansionist policy.
The Cuban President had also stressed that his country "will not accept any selective indignation that seeks to ignore the danger of the genocide that is being perpetrated against the Palestinians, portray the Israeli side as the victim, and ignore 75 years of aggression, occupation, violations, and exclusion."
