Dozens killed in an attack in DR Congo
The Kivu Security Observatory announces the killing of 40 people in a white-knuckle attack in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, targeting a center for the displaced in Ituri.
Sources reported that at least 40 people were killed, on Tuesday evening, in an attack with knives launched by militia members on a center for the displaced in Ituri, in the northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The US-based Observatory for Security in the Kivu announced in a tweet that at least 40 civilians were killed with knives last night in Plaine Savo in the Djogo province.

On the other hand, local officials and civil society sources confirmed that the death toll had exceeded 50.
It is suspected that the "Cooperative for the Development of Congo" (CODECO) militia, which claims to be defending the Lendu tribe against the Hema tribe and the army, carried out the attack.
It is noteworthy that the Kivu Security Observatory counted in only eight days between the end of November and the beginning of December 2021, the killing of at least 123 civilians, especially in camps housing the displaced.
