Drone attack against Pskov Airport in northwest Russia: Reports
A drone attack on an airport in Pskov Airport leaves four heavy transport planes damaged.
The Russian military said it successfully repelled a drone attack in the early hours of the morning on an airport in the northwestern city of Pskov early Wednesday, AFP reported, citing a statement by the regional governor Mikhail Vedernikov.
The defense ministry has yet to issue an official comment on the incident, but AFP cited reports indicating that four heavy transport planes were damaged during the attack.

"The defense ministry is repelling a drone attack in Pskov's airport," regional governor Mikhail Vedernikov said on social media, posting a video of a massive fire, with the sounds of explosions and sirens in the background.
Pskov, situated approximately 800 kilometers from Ukraine's border, shares borders with EU member states Latvia and Estonia.
The defense ministry has yet to issue an official comment on the incident, but AFP cited reports by TASS indicating that four heavy transport planes (Ilyushin Il-76) were damaged during the attack.
The incident also led to the closure of airspace above Moscow's Vnukovo airport, as reported by air traffic services.

This is not the first time the Pskov region has been targeted by drone attacks. In late May, the area experienced similar security breaches, leading to concerns about its vulnerability to aerial threats.
Russian mainland has been recently subject to an intense drone attack campaign whose casualties have been largely contained but have been increasing in frequency.
Yesterday, it was reported that the Russian Defense Ministry announced had taken down a Ukrainian drone over Belogorod and also prevented border violations by two US-made UAVs near the Black Sea.
On August 28, Russian air defenses shot down two Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk Region.
On August 26, a drone approached Moscow and was shot down by anti-air systems. The attempted attack resulted in no casualties or damages, the city's Mayor said.
