Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty spoke with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa by phone on Friday to discuss the ongoing preparations for a conference on the reconstruction, early recovery, and development of the Gaza Strip, scheduled to be held in Cairo in the latter half of November.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamer Khafagy stated that the call served to exchange views on the conference as part of their ongoing coordination, covering all details related to its objectives and expected outcomes, especially concerning funding and financial pledges, while also addressing the need to assess and update the scale of the destruction in the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty further expressed his anticipation for active participation from all members of the international community in the conference, which Egypt is organizing in cooperation with international partners under the previously endorsed Arab-Islamic conference, in addition to the ongoing coordination concerning the implementation of the US peace plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.
PA commends Egypt's efforts, role
On his part, the Palestinian Prime Minister commended Egypt's efforts and its hosting of the conference on early recovery, reconstruction, and development in Gaza, while expressing his appreciation for its role in reaching an agreement to end the war in Gaza and in defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Earlier, on October 15, the Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized that Egypt, in coordination with the Palestinian Authority, had developed a comprehensive vision for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, a process where he affirmed Egypt's central and leading role.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly confirmed that a comprehensive Egyptian vision for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip has been established and has since gained the approval of Arab, Islamic, and several major nations.
Madbouly highlighted Egypt's central role in developing this plan alongside the Palestinian Authority as a general framework for the efforts, noting that with the Gaza agreement now signed, the general framework is being developed into a detailed plan with specific timelines and financial flows.
