Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held talks on Tuesday with the UK’s National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell, focusing on regional developments, particularly the Palestinian question, as part of regular consultations between the two sides to exchange perspectives and assessments on unfolding events in the region.
During his call with Powell, Abdelatty stressed the importance of the “full implementation of the agreement to end the war in Gaza,” emphasizing the need to “initiate early recovery and reconstruction efforts and to ensure the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip in quantities that meet the needs of its population.”
He also reviewed the arrangements for Egypt’s upcoming hosting of the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza, scheduled to take place later in November.
Abdelatty also expressed his country’s hope for active participation from the United Kingdom and the wider international community in the conference to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
In a related context, Abdelatty and Powell discussed bilateral relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation across various fields, including economic, trade, and investment partnerships, and underscoring the importance of advancing ties toward broader horizons that serve the interests of both peoples.
US advisor meets with Arab League chief, discusses Gaza
Meanwhile, US Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massaad Boulos met with the Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Aboul Gheit, where they discussed recent regional developments and challenges.

In a post on X, Boulos said that both sides condemned the massacres perpetrated by the RSF in El Fasher, reaffirmed their support for the sovereignty of Lebanon, Libya, and Somalia's fight against terrorism.
Additionally, the US advisor emphasized that he underscored the Trump administration's commitment to sustaining the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza, stating that the US considers it "a high priority".
