El-Sisi: Reaching A Legally Binding Agreement on GERD Will Boost Stability
El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s full support and solidarity with South Sudan.
In his discussions with his South Sudanese counterpart, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reiterated the prominence of reaching a legally binding agreement on the GERD's Operation and Filing Policies.
El-Sisi also stated Egypt's full support and solidarity with South Sudan, particularly in light of the pandemic, floods, and food shortages, as well as the implementation of the 2018 peace agreement.
He went on to say that Cairo backs Juba in all areas of development, particularly irrigation, health, education, and the economy.
Furthermore, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady stated that South Sudanese President Salva Kiir revealed on Sunday that Ethiopia was supposed to begin negotiations for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) in October.
Kiir praised Egyptian companies in South Sudan for their contributions to infrastructure and development projects ranging from highway networks to electricity grids, telecommunications, and agriculture.
