Erdogan: US carrier group to "Israel" will commit crimes against Gaza
The Turkish President questions the true reason behind the US' transfer of the USS Gerald R. Ford to "Israel", as it will only escalate the situation and crimes further.
The United States was criticized by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday for encroaching its carrier strike group closer to "Israel" as he warned that doing so would constitute "serious massacres" in Gaza.
During a joint press conference with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer in Ankara, Erdogan stated: "What will the aircraft carrier of the U.S. do near Israel, why do they come? What will boats around and aircraft on it will do? They will hit Gaza and around, and take steps for serious massacres there".
The President has previously assured that his country is prepared to mediate to ensure calm.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated on Sunday, a day after the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, that the US will move a carrier strike group, which includes the USS Gerald R. Ford, closer to the area.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced in its latest statistics that 950 people have been killed by Israeli occupation forces, including 260 children and 230 women, with around 2,650 injuries, as a result of the ongoing aggression in the Gaza Strip.
On the other hand, the spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal, told Al Mayadeen that "the occupation is committing acts of genocide": adding that they were employing white phosphorus in their attacks against civilian targets, which is internationally prohibited under Protocol III of the Convention of Certain Conventional Weapons.
This comes as the General Commander of the Iranian Army, Brigadier General Abdolrahim Mousavi, said on Tuesday that the US will accelerate its demise if it keeps pace with the Zionist entity.
In an exclusive statement to Al Mayadeen on the sidelines of the graduation of a new batch of Iranian armed forces officers, Mousavi emphasized the need for the United States to "act sensibly and allow justice to prevail, not to aid falsehood."
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi congratulated the Palestinian resistance on the occasion of the victory of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, confirming Iran's support for the Palestinian people in their just defense.
