European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas strongly condemned the Israeli occupation on Wednesday after its forces opened fire on a convoy of diplomats visiting the city of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.
Kallas stated that “any threat to the lives of diplomats is unacceptable” and urged the Israeli regime to immediately investigate the incident and hold those responsible accountable.
The attack targeted a diplomatic delegation of 30 Arab and European ambassadors and consuls who were conducting a field visit to assess the humanitarian situation in Jenin, which has faced repeated military raids by occupation forces in recent months.
Visit was coordinated with 'Israel'
Spain's Foreign Ministry issued a strongly worded condemnation, highlighting that Israeli occupation troops fired warning shots at diplomats during a visit organized by the Palestinian Authority. The ministry confirmed that a Spanish national was among the delegation but was unharmed, adding that it is coordinating with other concerned countries to deliver a joint diplomatic response.
Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib revealed that the visit had been coordinated in advance with the Israeli military and that the convoy of 20 clearly marked vehicles had full diplomatic visibility. She emphasized the need for accountability following such a breach of protocol.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced that he would summon the Israeli ambassador in Paris to provide explanations, following reports that French diplomats were also among those targeted.
'Unacceptable threat'
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani also condemned the warning shots, describing them as “unacceptable threats.” He called on the Israeli occupation to issue “immediate clarifications” through a post on X, and summoned the Israeli ambassador in Rome for official answers.

The German Foreign Ministry issued a statement demanding an "immediate" clarification from the Israeli occupation about the attack.
Palestinian sources reported that a joint Arab-European diplomatic delegation came under fire on Wednesday by Israeli occupation forces during a visit to the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank.
The delegation, comprising 30 ambassadors and consuls, was conducting a field tour to assess the humanitarian situation in Jenin, an area that has been the frequent target of Israeli military operations.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the incident, describing it as “an attack on a diplomatic mission” and holding the Israeli government “fully and directly responsible for this cowardly assault.”
Israeli violations intensify
The ministry emphasized that the incident would not go unpunished and called on the international community, particularly the countries represented in the targeted delegation, to take a clear and firm stance.
