Five IRGC border guards martyred, one resuscitated after terror attack
Over the past years, the border region of Saravan in Sistan and Baluchestan Province has been the scene of violent clashes between Iranian forces and terror groups.
Iranian sources reported on Sunday that five Iranian border guards were martyred on Saturday during clashes with terror groups in the Maze-Sar area of the border region of Saravan, the crossing at the border with Pakistan.
Initial reports stated that the death toll was at six, but police later announced that one of the border guards was resuscitated.
According to reports, the attack was carried out by "a terrorist group which intended to infiltrate the country’s border" but "fled to the other side of the border after the confrontation."
An investigation team led by the deputy commander of Iran's law enforcement forces and the head of border guards has been launched in the area where the incident took place.

Drug traffickers have also been a serious issue at the border.
On April 30, Colonel Alireza Shahraki, chief of the Iranian Police Criminal Investigation (CID) Department in Saravan was shot by unidentified gunmen after spraying his car with bullets in the early morning.
Besides attacks from terror organizations and drug traffickers at the borders, IRGC guards have also been martyred in Syria, where "Israel" has carried out several aggressions.
