Former PM Netanyahu Mistakenly Raises Hand, Votes with Rivals
An embarrassing moment for Netanyahu was followed by a bitter loss against the "Yamina" coalition on the issue of an Israeli budget.
"Israel" saw quite an embarrassing moment for former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which, unluckily for him, occurred during a pivotal Knesset session whose focal point was passing a budget, a first in three years.
You would think a political figure of Netanyahu's rank - within "Israel" - would actually be attentive during a session of this significance. However, it seems that he was only physically present because he accidentally raised his hand in favor of a clause in the budget added by the opposing party, casting his vote among his so-called 'rivals'.
The Knesset passed the 2021 budget in a close 61-59, during an early Thursday session, which could be an attempt to avoid facing the same fate as its predecessor.
Netanyahu, the former Prime Minister, is also spearheading the 'opposition' against his successor Naftali Bennett, but apparently, he seems to be opposing Bennett before the media but sides with him subconsciously.
It seems that Israeli officials were not having their best day, for another figure, Shas leader Arye Deri, accidentally voted for the coalition's clause as well.
Netanyahu's rivalry with Bennett goes back to the latter becoming Prime Minister in June, ousting Netanyahu's government and assuming his post.
"Israel" had four elections in that time period, and the parliament was dissolved after Knesset failed to pass a national budget.
Of course, this does not amount to the heinous crimes Netanyahu has committed against the state of Palestine and its people during his 12-year tenure, but it is quite laughable that "Israel's" leader for over a decade could not even tell what it is going on in the Knesset during one of its most important sessions in a while.
