Only Palestinian unity is the way to confront Israeli schemes, said the head of the Joint List in the Israeli Knesset, Ayman Odeh, stressing that the Palestinian people have shattered the Israelis' point of strength: the military.
In an interview for Al Mayadeen, Odeh emphasized "the need to start establishing the widest global alliance to confront and isolate the administration of US President Donald Trump.”
Odeh also rejected the expulsion of the people of the Gaza Strip, stressing that "Trump's idea cannot be tolerated by the people of Gaza, who have stood strong for 15 months" in the face of the war of extermination waged by the Israeli occupation with American support.
The Knesset member also touched on Cairo's position on this issue, explaining that Egypt would reject the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, "for several considerations, the most important of which is Egyptian national security."
In addition, the head of the Joint List stressed that the Israeli occupation is pursuing the Palestinians in the territories occupied in 1948, "especially those who support Gaza."
Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Odeh highlighted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "classified us as enemies when he spoke about the internal front, alongside the fronts of Gaza, the West Bank, and South Lebanon." While he pointed out that "the attack he is being subjected to by members of the Knesset is due to the Israeli failure in Gaza," he stressed "the steadfastness of our moral and humanitarian position."
Entities' reaction to Trump's displacement plot
Hamas
Hamas slammed Trump's statements as a "declaration to occupy" the Gaza Strip, rejecting the notion of a third party governing the enclave.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem blasted the takeover plot as "absolutely unacceptable", stressing that the Palestinian land will remain for its people.
"Trump’s remarks about Washington taking control of Gaza amount to an open declaration of intent to occupy the territory. We do not need any country to run the Gaza Strip and we do not accept replacing one occupation with another."
He further called for an emergency Arab summit to confront the plot and urged the Arab people and international organizations to take decisive action against it.
Palestinian Authority
The Palestinian Authority's Foreign Ministry condemned Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz's remarks regarding the IOF's plans and preparations for the Palestinians' displacement from the Gaza Strip, labeling them as "an extension of the genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity perpetrated by the occupying state [Israel] against our people."
The statement further underscored that the planned expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza exposes the lack of an "Israeli partner for peace," emphasizing the ongoing efforts to sustain the occupation and struggle while denying the rightful and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
It called on the international community to "reject the crimes of displacement and annexation" and stressed the need to push forward with the "two-state" solution, ultimately leading to the creation of a Palestinian state.
Egypt
Egypt has firmly rejected and will not support any proposal that involves the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, according to its foreign ministry.
Algeria
Algeria has firmly rejected the circulating plans aimed at displacing Gaza and emptying it of its original inhabitants, as part of a broader scheme targeting the undermining of the Palestinian national project.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its strong conviction that achieving sustainable peace in the Middle East is closely tied to upholding the rights of the Palestinian people and enabling them to establish their independent and sovereign state.
Algeria highlighted the "inevitability of unifying Palestinian territories, from Gaza to the West Bank and occupied al-Quds, in the context of realizing the Palestinian national project," emphasizing that attempts to erase the features of this project, fragment it, or eradicate it would only lead to prolonging the struggle, deepening the suffering of the Palestinian people, and exacerbating insecurity and instability throughout the entire region.
Ireland
A statement by Ireland's Foreign Ministry stated, "The objective must be a massive scale-up of aid into Gaza, return of basic services and a clear framework under which those displaced can return," in response to the takeover and displacement plot for Gaza.
"Any comments to the contrary are unhelpful and a source of distraction."
