One year onto the Israeli war on Gaza and the Palestinian Resistance's Operation al-Aqsa Flood, fighters engaged Israeli occupation forces in direct confrontations in the besieged territory.

In addition to these ground battles, the Resistance fighters launched a series of rocket attacks targeting key Israeli assets, including Tel Aviv.

Rocket attack on October 7, 2023

On Monday morning, at 11:00 am (local time), Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades fired a salvo of M-90 long-range rocket artillery shells at the city settlement of Tel Aviv, explaining that the attack came in line with the ongoing battle of attrition and in response to Israeli massacres against Palestinians.

Al-Qassam fighters also launched salvos of 114mm rockets at the Sufa military site, Israeli military positions near Holit, and a command and control center at the Karem Abu Salem military site.

At 5:00 pm, the al-Qassam Brigades, al-Quds Brigades, National Resistance Brigades, al-Mujahideen Brigades, and al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades, as well as other factions launched a concerted rocket and mortar attack on the Netzarim Axis, targeting Israeli occupation forces across the area.

The Netzarim Axis is occupied by Israeli occupation forces and splits the northern Gaza Strip, including Gaza City, from the rest of the besieged territory. The axis has also been crucial for the Israeli regime’s control over the movement of Palestinians northward, limiting the flow of aid, and launching ground invasions from its direction.

The al-Qassam fighters also fired several 114 mm rockets at the Sderot settlement, to the northeast of the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s (PIJ) al-Quds Brigades launched a rocket attack on Israeli occupation forces located in the vicinity of the Kissufim military site.

The Brigades also fired a salvo of rockets at Sderot and Nir Am.

In the rocket attack that targeted Tel Aviv, several impacts were recorded, including an incident where at least two settlers were injured by shrapnel.

Direct confrontations

In the Gaza Strip, Israeli occupation forces had launched a wide-scale attack on the northern Gaza Strip, hoping to debilitate the Resistance’s rocket launching capabilities, ahead of October 7.

Fierce confrontations erupted across various fronts in the Gaza Strip, as Resistance factions reported a great deal on close-quarter battles.

In the northern Gaza Strip, al-Qassam fighters engaged in intense close-quarter battles with Israeli forces, west of Jabalia refugee camp. These confrontations resulted in significant Israeli casualties.

Additionally, the al-Qassam Brigades successfully targeted a Merkava 4 tank using a locally produced tandem rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), al-Yassin 105 shell, northeast of al-Bureij refugee camp, central Gaza. Defending against an Israeli attack on al-Bureij, the al-Qassam fighters shelled the invading forces in the northern region of al-Bureij camp.

In another operation, al-Qassam fighters deployed an anti-personnel explosive device against an Israeli force of 10 soldiers north of Gaza City, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. Military helicopters were later observed evacuating the wounded from the battlefield.

The Brigades also launched a dual attack on two Israeli Merkava tanks with an explosive planted into the ground and an al-Yassin shell, again in the northeast of the al-Bureij camp. Furthermore, al-Qassam snipers successfully eliminated an Israeli soldier in the same area.

In the al-Tawam area, north of Gaza City, al-Qassam targeted an Israeli armored personnel carrier (APC) with an al-Yassin RPG, and shortly after, another Israeli soldier was killed by sniper fire in the same vicinity.

Meanwhile, al-Mujahideen Brigades announced that their fighters are engaged in fierce confrontations with Israeli soldiers and military vehicles on the Jabalia front in northern Gaza.

Al-Quds Brigades also reported direct engagement with an Israeli infantry force attempting to infiltrate the "Block 2" area in Jabalia camp. Additionally, they targeted an Israeli Merkava tank with a tandem RPG in the Qasasib area in central Jabalia.
