Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has strongly condemned the Zahedan terrorist attack, calling it a retaliatory move against the steadfastness of the Iranian people. He asserted that Iran's security forces remain fully committed to combating terrorism.
In a statement on Sunday, Ghalibaf said the attack was "a retaliatory act against a nation that has stood united in the face of Zionist and American aggression." He emphasized that the Iranian armed and security forces had dealt firmly with the perpetrators and would continue to pursue those behind the crime.
Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref echoed similar sentiments, stating that the goal of the Zahedan terrorist attack was to disrupt public order and security and incite unrest across the country.
On Saturday morning, a courthouse in Zahedan, located in Sistan and Baluchistan Province, was the target of a terrorist armed assault by the Jaish al-Adl group. According to Iranian state media, the attack resulted in several civilian deaths and injuries.
'Israel' responsible for escalating terrorism
Ghalibaf accused the Zionist entity of being inherently tied to terrorism, noting, "the criminal Zionist gang has once again proven that terrorism is an inseparable part of its nature." He added that the entity targets both military personnel and civilians, showing no regard for age or gender.
He described the Israeli occupation as "an illegitimate offspring and a cancerous tumor of the Western world," responsible for "one of the greatest humanitarian tragedies in history" currently taking place in Gaza. He warned that failing to stop it could plunge the region and the world into even greater chaos.
Ghalibaf also praised the Iranian people for their unity, stating that they had delivered "a powerful blow to the enemy with unprecedented solidarity." He warned, however, that the enemy is now turning to economic warfare and psychological operations to undermine Iran's resilience.
Calling on economic leaders and government officials, he said, "It is now their turn to take action," stressing the importance of implementing a robust national economic strategy, as outlined in Iran's Seventh Development Plan, to maintain unity and continue defending the nation.
