Graham predicts ‘riots in the Street’ if Trump is prosecuted
As civil war flashbacks haunt the US, US Senator Lindsey Graham adds up warnings in mainstream media about the frightening prospect.
US Senator Lindsey Graham warned on Sunday of "riots in the streets" if former US President Trump faces charges over his handling of documents found when the FBI searched his Mar-a-Lago home.
Graham made the volatile prediction during an interview with Fox News' Sunday Night in America host and former congressman Trey Gowdy, stressing, “If there’s a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information, after the Clinton debacle… there’ll be riots in the streets.”
Later that evening, Trump shared a clip of the interview on Truth Social.
Furthermore, Graham voiced concern that Trump is being treated with "a double standard," and he reiterated his threat of riots in response to the Georgia special grand jury's investigation into Trump and his allies' attempts to overturn the state's 2020 election results.
It is worth noting that Graham has been subpoenaed in that investigation in connection with phone calls made to Georgia election officials in an attempt to change the state's election results.
The South Carolina senator on Sunday also tersely stated, “Most Republicans, including me, believe when it comes to Trump, there is no law. It’s all about getting him.”
“I’ve never been more worried about the law and politics as I am right now,” he added.
The former president is being investigated for possible violations of the Espionage Act and obstruction of justice, according to an unsealed warrant.
An accompanying affidavit, which was heavily redacted, stated that the "government is conducting a criminal investigation concerning the improper removal and storage of classified information in unauthorized spaces, as well as the unlawful concealment or removal of government records," and that there is "probable cause to believe that evidence of obstruction will be found."
Trump claims to have declassified all of the documents at Mar-a-Lago and has denied any wrongdoing.
"The DOJ and FBI are engaging in Election Interference at the highest and most dishonest level our country has ever seen," he posted on Truth Social on Sunday.
50% of Americans expecting civil war in the coming years
A study from the University of California-Davis revealed last month that around 50% of Americans expect a civil war to occur "in the next few years."
Researchers working for the university's Violence Prevention Research Program and the California Violence Research Center presented findings that 50.1% of survey respondents said that they at least somewhat agree that a civil war will be happening soon, while 47.8% disagreed.

Around 14% said they "strongly" or "very strongly" agree that a civil war is imminent, while 36% said they somewhat agree.
As radicalism and fighting words are on the rise between blue states and red states, expectations say that the US civil war is imminent.
