Hamas delegation exits Cairo as 'Israel' thwarts talks
Hamas has announced that its delegation left Cairo for consultations with the leadership amid ongoing discussions on a Gaza ceasefire.
Hamas stated that its delegation departed from Cairo to confer with the leadership amid ongoing talks regarding a ceasefire in Gaza, the return of forcibly displaced Palestinians, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid.
Earlier, a senior Hamas official informed Reuters that talks in Cairo did not lead to a significant development, with "Israel" dismissing the movement's requests to halt its aggression on Gaza, withdraw its troops, and guarantee unrestricted access to aid as well and the return of displaced Palestinians.
"Israel thwarted all efforts by mediators to reach an agreement," he stressed.
Meanwhile, an official source affirmed to Al Qahera Al Ikhbariya that the Hamas delegation has left Cairo, adding that ceasefire talks will resume next week."
The source emphasized that "negotiations are ongoing among all parties to reach a ceasefire before the holy month of Ramadan."
A dangerous turning point nears
A senior official in the Palestinian Resistance told Al Mayadeen, on Wednesday, that "the negotiations have reached a dangerous turning point that threatens the possibility of their success and the possibility of reaching a final agreement."
Sticking to its original demands, Hamas did not present any new initiative regarding the prisoner exchange ratio, which is the most important issue for "Israel", according to the official.
Moreover, mediators tried to verbally reassure Hamas that "Israel" would accept its demands, but the Palestinian Resistance movement insisted on a written document that ensures these promises would be kept.
"After rounds of negotiations and in the presence of Egyptian and Qatari mediators, Hamas is now convinced that the occupation will not provide clear answers [for its demands]," the senior official highlighted.
Crucially, "Israel" is yet to provide the Resistance with any clear-cut guarantees that it will stick to a ceasefire, as it continues to disregard the main demand of the Palestinian Resistance, the official concluded.
