Hamas discusses Palestinian, regional issues with Russian officials
A delegation of the Palestinian movement Hamas meets with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, met with a delegation of the Palestinian movement Hamas, headed by a member of the Hamas Political Bureau and head of Hamas International Relations Office Moussa Abu Marzouk in Moscow on Thursday.
The meeting, which was held at the Russian Foreign Ministry's guesthouse in Moscow, addressed the developments of the situation in the Middle East region and the international arena as a whole, with an emphasis on the Palestinian issue, in light of the Israeli far-right government, a Palestinian delegation source was quoted as saying.
The delegation emphasized the rights of the Palestinian people, spearheaded by their right to resist the Israeli occupation by all available means, stressing that "the current Zionist government with its far-right policies backs the acts of State terrorism and systematic human rights violations being committed against the Palestinian people."
Bogdanov reiterated his country's support for Palestinian rights, recognizing the efforts made by Moscow to communicate with all concerned parties.
This comes shortly after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with a delegation of the Palestinian movement Hamas, headed by political bureau chairman Ismail Haniyeh, in Moscow on Monday.
A leading delegation from Hamas held talks on May 4 in the Russian Foreign Ministry with Deputy Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
Last December, a Hamas delegation likewise made a similar visit to the capital, Moscow, and discussed with Russian officials several issues.
Moscow had criticized the stances of Western countries in dealing with the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, indicating at the time that "the West is very concerned about the situation in Ukraine... while it is indifferently watching the Israelis kill the Palestinians and destroy the Gaza Strip," describing the matter as a continuation of the "Western propaganda machine."
