A senior delegation from the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas, led by Muhammad Darwish, head of the Shura and Leadership Councils, conducted a series of important meetings with Turkish officials in Ankara.
Over the past two days, the Hamas delegation met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Director of National Intelligence Ibrahim Kalin, according to a statement issued by the movement on Thursday.
During the meetings, the two sides discussed the escalating Israeli aggression on Gaza, ongoing international efforts to halt the genocide, and the importance of lifting the siege. The talks also explored ways to enhance regional and global initiatives to stop the war and deliver urgent humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the besieged Strip.
Hamas expressed its gratitude for Turkey’s steadfast support of the Palestinian people and their just cause, further praising Ankara’s political and humanitarian efforts to end the aggression and alleviate the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Hamas says mediation efforts ongoing
Turkish officials reaffirmed their unwavering support for the rights of the Palestinian people and emphasized their commitment to ending the assault on Gaza, underscoring that the situation in Gaza remains a top priority in Turkey’s regional and international diplomacy, despite fast-moving developments in the region.
Meanwhile, Hamas announced on Wednesday that it is conducting national consultations to evaluate proposals from international mediators. The goal is to reach an agreement that ensures the end of the aggression and guarantees the withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza.
The movement confirmed that mediators are exerting serious efforts to bridge differences between the concerned parties and lay the groundwork for a framework agreement. If successful, these efforts could lead to the launch of a credible negotiation process aimed at ending the war and securing lasting peace for the Palestinian people.
