US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Israeli officials have agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize a proposed 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, during which a broader agreement to end the war will be negotiated.
Trump confirmed that Qatar and Egypt—key mediators in the ceasefire talks—will present the final deal to Hamas, urging the Palestinian Resistance to accept it.
“My Representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60-Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War,” he explained.
“I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE,” the US president concluded.
The post followed remarks made by Trump to reporters, where he confirmed he would be “very firm” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the latter’s upcoming visit to the White House next week. Speaking from Washington, Trump said that Netanyahu “wants it too,” referring to the effort to end the war on Gaza, which has now stretched beyond 600 days and left tens of thousands of Palestinians dead.
Trump expects deal next week
Earlier Monday, the president repeated his prediction that a ceasefire and captive deal would be reached shortly. “I think we’ll have a deal next week,” he said.
This comes after Trump said earlier he will discuss the situations in Gaza and Iran during his upcoming meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, expressing hope for a Gaza ceasefire very soon.
As Gaza endures relentless and devastating massacres, Netanyahu is set to visit Washington early next week for talks with US President Donald Trump, The Times of Israel reported, citing a White House official.
The visit comes amid claims that Washington is intensifying its efforts to end the war on Gaza and secure the release of Israeli captives. However, it is important to note that the US remains complicit in "Israel’s" ongoing aggression for over 600 days, providing military funding, arms, and consistently vetoing ceasefire resolutions at the United Nations.
Netanyahu’s third meeting with Trump
The July 7 visit will mark Netanyahu’s third meeting with Trump since the latter returned to office in January 2025. It follows a 12-day joint US-Israeli aggression on the Islamic Republic of Iran, during which Iran emerged victorious, forcing "Israel" and the United States to scramble for a ceasefire, namely after its strike on the US base in Qatar on June 23.
Senior Israeli official Ron Dermer is in Washington this week for preparatory talks ahead of Monday’s meeting.
Trump and Netanyahu previously coordinated a joint military operation targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities in June, which included US B-2 bombing raids. Trump claimed the strikes “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capability, though experts continue to debate the actual extent of the damage.
When asked about Ron Dermer’s meetings and agenda, a White House official said, “Ron Dermer visits the White House regularly.”
The official added that these visits will continue “as President Trump pursues a path to peace for Israel and Gaza.” However, the official did not specify which members of the Trump administration Dermer would be meeting with during his trip.
