Hamas urges Pakistan to play active role in Gaza truce
Ismail Haniyeh praised other nations' and organizations' efforts to help Palestine, adding Pakistan's prime minister should also put pressure on Israeli regime backers to end the murderous onslaught.
The head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, has called on Pakistan's new government to take an active role in influencing Israel" and its supporters to agree on an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Haniyeh recently revealed that the principles worked on during negotiations are stopping the aggression, complete Israeli withdrawal, the return of the displaced, the humanitarian dimension of the war, and an honorable prisoner exchange deal.
Pakistani media reported that Haniyeh sent a letter to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulating him on his election and discussing the recent events in the Israeli assault on Gaza.
The Palestinian Resistance official praised other nations' and organizations' efforts to help Palestine, adding Pakistan's prime minister should also put pressure on Israeli regime backers to end the murderous onslaught.
Haniyeh remarked that the occupation intentionally targets innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, and that Israeli occupation forces (IOF) are engaging in mass destruction of infrastructure to make life in the strip inhabitable.
He also said that Israeli officials use starvation and hunger as a weapon of war against Gazans to further their vile genocidal goals, obstructing the delivery of aid and killing innocent Palestinians awaiting aid.
Gohar Ali Khan, the head of the Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI or Pakistan Movement for Justice) party previously led by former premier Imran Khan, confirmed that Pakistan and the movement stand with the Palestinian people just as they support all issues concerning the Islamic Ummah and Muslims.
In an interview for Al Mayadeen, Ali Khan said his country's position, in this regard, has been long clear and in line with the Islamic nations' consensus, further recalling that this was the stance of the former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
UNFPA: Situation in Gaza 'beyond catastrophic'
The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) said on March 15 that the situation in Gaza is “beyond catastrophic.”
UNFPA's Representative for Palestine, Dominic Allen, spoke in a virtual briefing addressing his most recent visit to Gaza, "What we see in Gaza is that it's a nightmare, which is much more than a humanitarian crisis. It is a crisis of humanity, and the situation is beyond catastrophic."
Allen stressed that in addition to the on-ground violence, disinformation is also a major hurdle.
"Having left Gaza this week, I can assure you that it's worse than I can describe or that the pictures can show or that you can imagine," he emphasized.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced today that the number of Palestinians killed by the Israeli genocide in Gaza has risen to 31,553, and those injured to 73,546.
The Israeli occupation forces committed 7 massacres in 24 hours, killing 63 Palestinians and injuring 112 others in 24 hours, the ministry reported.
The ministry stressed that many victims remain under the rubble as ambulances and civil defense crews are unable to reach them.
It is noteworthy that the numbers only account for martyrs officially registered with the Ministry, and there may be a significant number of martyrs whose bodies have not yet been accounted for or reached hospitals.
