Hamas warns that any such attempt is a dangerous escalation.

Today, Wednesday, Hamas condemned the calls by Israeli far-right groups to demolish the Dome of the Rock prayer hall in Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied city of Al-Quds.

In a statement, Hamas said, "These calls are equal to playing with fire, which will backfire on the Israeli occupation, whom we hold fully responsible."

It added that the call of the head of the Zionist Lehava Organization for the settlers to demolish the Dome of the Rock and build their alleged temple on the so-called “unification of Jerusalem Day," next Sunday, “is a direct provocation to the feelings of our people and our nation and amounts to a dangerous escalation against our identity, values, and sanctities."

Hamas held the Israeli occupation "fully responsible for its repercussions," warning that the fire that these extremist groups are playing with will backfire on the leaders of the occupation and its government, and it holds therein a warning that their downfall and the demise of their entity is near.

The Movement also warned that “in light of the continued threats and Zionist incursions, we call upon all our people to be ready, mobilize, and head to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque to stand up to the Israeli attempts with full force and to upgrade the confrontation against the Israeli occupation and its dangerous Judaization schemes.

Hamas also called on the leaders, organizations, and people to assume their historical responsibilities in protecting Al-Aqsa and to take serious action to prevent its desecration.

Extremist Jewish groups claim that Al-Aqsa Mosque was built on the ruins of “Mount Temple” built by Prophet Solomon, and thus, they demand the demolition of the Mosque and the reconstruction of the alleged temple on its ruins.

For days, the Lehava organization has called on the settlers to organize a march in Al-Aqsa at the end of this month and demolish the Dome of the Rock.

The Lehava organization is a right-wing extremist organization, with an intensified presence in occupied Al-Quds and the Israeli settlements. It is accused by human rights organizations and Palestinians of committing assaults against Palestinians.
