Hezbollah attacks Shamir settlement in first amid bombardment
The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon attacks the Israeli settlement of Shamir amid its operations in support of the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza.
The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - Hezbollah announced on Thursday the expansion of its military operations by targeting the Shamir settlement in northern occupied Palestine. This marks the first time Hezbollah has struck the settlement, and the operation was carried out using a barrage of Katyusha rockets.
Hezbollah stated that this attack was a direct response to the recent Israeli assaults on the "resilient southern Lebanese villages and civilian homes, particularly the attack on Marjayoun that injured civilians." The operation also aims to support Gaza and its resistance forces.
Following the Shamir attack, Hezbollah launched further rocket strikes against Israeli artillery positions in Zaorah.
In two separate operations, Hezbollah targeted the Israeli-occupied Lebanese sites of Marj and Rweisat al-Alam in the Kfar Chouba hills, using appropriate weapons and achieving direct hits in both operations.
Additionally, the Maayan Baruch site was hit by artillery shells, and a position where Israeli soldiers were stationed at Malikiyah was targeted with suitable weapons, resulting in direct hits.
Earlier today, Hezbollah carried out an aerial attack using a swarm of kamikaze drones on the Israeli military site of Khirbet Maar near the border with occupied Palestine. The drones accurately hit positions occupied by Israeli officers and soldiers.
Hezbollah emphasized that this attack, in addition to supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza and their resistance, was a retaliation for Israeli aggressions against southern Lebanese villages, especially the town of Abbasiya.
Israeli media outlets circulated a video showing a fire breaking out at an Israeli target in the Kiryat Shmona settlement following an attack by a drone.
Fires errupt in the north
Moreover, a barrage of rockets was launched towards a military target in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights without triggering warning sirens, an Al Mayadeen correspondent in southern Lebanon reported.
Seven firefighting teams from the Israeli occupation's al-Jalil-Golan fire station are currently battling a fire near the Shamir settlement in the Upper Galilee, northern occupied Palestine. The fire reportedly started following a series of rocket launches from Lebanon and subsequent interception operations, according to an Israeli media platform.
The situation on the ground remains tense as reports confirm that the fire near Shamir coincides with several operations carried out by the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, with rockets being launched from Lebanon toward Israeli-occupied territories.
An Al Mayadeen correspondent provided further details, confirming that fires have also broken out in the occupied al-Jalil Panhandle after a large barrage of rockets was fired from Lebanon. Additionally, a massive fire erupted in the occupied Syrian Golan following the fall of rockets, with no warning sirens reportedly heard before the impact.
Israeli aggression
Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue their assaults on Lebanon, targeting the towns of Kfarkila, Naqoura, and Khiam, as well as the outskirts of Aita al-Shaab. The town of Yaroun was also struck by an Israeli drone.
Yesterday, Hezbollah carried out several operations, the latest of which targeted the Kiryat Shmona settlement with Katyusha rocket barrages. Israeli Channel 12 confirmed that direct hits were recorded, causing a fire near a bus station.
The head of the Israeli Upper al-Jalil Council, Giora Zaltz, said Saturday that Hezbollah was pacing up its operations on the northern front.
Zaltz, who heads the local authority governing a large section of northern Israeli-occupied territories, said that these areas are becoming increasingly less secure.
The official criticized the central Israeli government, headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for its policies in the north during an interview for the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (KAN).
"Netanyahu's government discovered, in the past weeks, that there is an enemy in the northern borders called Hezbollah and it awaits [Hezbollah's] response to the assassination of commander (Fouad) Shokor in the Southern Suburb of Beirut," Zaltz explained.
He stressed that the situation in the north is deteriorating from "bad to worse," as daily warning sirens sound across the northern occupied territories due to Hezbollah's drone and rocket attacks.
The Israeli official revealed that dozens of settlers' housing units have been destroyed, vast areas have been burnt, and dozens of casualties have been recorded among Israeli soldiers and settlers.
In addition to the material and human losses suffered by the Israeli occupation, Zaltz pointed to the completely dysfunctional healthcare, banking, and educational sectors in the north. Zaltz reiterated his calls for a radical change in the Israeli government's strategy in the north that would allow evacuated settlers to return to their colonial outposts.
