Hezbollah calls fake news reports from AFP 'psychological warfare'
The statement from the Lebanese resistance clarifies and stresses that "there are no such sources within Hezbollah" after AFP claimed it received information through such channel.
In a statement released by the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon's media relations office, it was revealed that news concerning the fate of Hezbollah officials coming from Western media sources is false.
According to the statement, some media outlets are "publishing news attributed to sources within Hezbollah regarding the fate of Hezbollah officials following the brutal airstrikes on the southern suburbs," in particular calling out Agence France-Presse (AFP), which as per the statement, "attributed its reports to high-ranking Hezbollah sources."
The statement clarifies and stresses that "there are no such sources within Hezbollah, and our position is always published in an official statement by Hezbollah’s media relations."
The office also called the fake news and baseless rumors regarding the organization status of several senior members befitting of "psychological warfare" aimed at undermining the resistance's supporters by "those who have devoted their pens, tongues, and platforms to serving the Zionist occupation."
Earlier on Saturday, AFP posted a report that claimed that "another source close to Hezbollah previously told AFP that the deeply religious cleric Safieddine, who has family ties to Nasrallah and good relations with its backer Iran, was the 'most likely' candidate for the party's top job."
In addition, the agency claimed that the same source reported that "Contact with Sayyed Safieddine has been lost since the violent strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs."
Israeli aggression on Lebanon continues to kill, injure civilians
At noon Saturday, an Israeli drone struck an area where Civil Defense and rescue operations attempted to lift the rubble following the intense aggression on Mrayjeh, in Beirut's Southern Suburb, forcing the crews to withdraw from the site immediately, as "Israel" stretched its tactics of obstructing all rescue efforts in Lebanon.
As the aggression continued, the Israeli occupation launched around nine airstrikes since Friday night through Saturday morning on several areas in the Southern Suburb of Beirut, including Burj al-Barajneh, Rweis, the Sayyed al-Shuhada Complex, the vicinity of the Al-Qaem Complex, and Choueifat.
As a result, thick clouds of smoke can still be seen rising in the aftermath of the violent raids, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Beirut reported.
Footage circulated of one of the destroyed buildings targeted by the occupation in Sayyed Hadi Nasrallah Highway area in the Southern Suburb, as well as the destruction that was inflicted on the Sayyed al-Shuhada Complex, home to all sorts of national and religious celebrations, prior to the aggression.
