Hezbollah challenging Iron Dome, Israeli reports say
Israeli Channel 12 says Hezbollah is launching rockets toward northern occupied Palestine to overwhelm Israeli defense systems and test their capabilities.
Hezbollah challenged the effectiveness of the Iron Dome by launching a barrage of large rockets toward "Kiryat Shmona", Israeli Channel 12 reported on Wednesday.
The objective behind this act is to increase the number of rockets that surpass the Iron Dome's interception capabilities, thereby preventing the return of settlers to northern occupied Palestine.
Military commentator Nir Dvori from Israeli Channel 12 noted that Hezbollah's firing of a salvo of 30 rockets towards "Kiryat Shmona" on Tuesday was not aimed at Israeli settlers or military personnel. Instead, Dvori suggests that Hezbollah is attempting to test the limits of the Iron Dome's capabilities.
Dvori points out that the resistance in Lebanon deliberately launches large salvos of rockets in an effort to overwhelm the Iron Dome's interception capabilities.
"When a large number of rockets is launched, it becomes challenging to track and intercept them," he explains.
Additionally, Dvori highlights that Hezbollah is also trying to pinpoint the locations of Iron Dome batteries and target them. This tactic could potentially damage air defense systems, hindering their ability to intercept rockets and thus preventing the return of settlers to the north.
Israeli media reported Saturday on the extensive scale of destruction that befell the northern settlements during the past month of February, adding to the damage they endured over the last three months due to ongoing Resistance operations.
According to a report published by Lobby 1701 that was later reported on by Yedioth Ahronoth, the Resistance in Lebanon launched 668 rocket-artillery shells, 21 large-caliber rockets, 91 anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), and around 40 drones toward "Israel" in the last month.
It further stated that approximately 68,000 settlers have been displaced from their homes in the North since October 7. Moreover, "Israel" has transformed a strip of the entire area in the north of occupied Palestine into a security belt.
Additionally, it clarified that "last month, in February, approximately 570 homes were hit by rocket fire in the confrontation zone in the north."
The report affirmed that "these numbers are unprecedented, embodying the challenging reality where Israel, until now, has decided to abandon settlements in the north, turning a strip of the entire area into a security belt."
The newspaper mentioned that "the lobby will work in every possible way to ensure the continued prosperity, growth, and security of settlements in the North."
