Hezbollah says not to give up fight with Gaza on July War anniversary
The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon underlines that it will not be abandoning the fight against the Israeli occupation amid the ongoing war on Gaza.
On the 18th anniversary of the victory in the July 2006 War, Hezbollah reaffirmed its commitment to resistance against the Israeli occupation and its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
In a statement issued to commemorate the occasion, Hezbollah recalled the "great July War" as a turning point in the struggle against the Israeli occupation, taking the opportunity to laud the heroism and sacrifices of those who fought against "Israel".
Hezbollah highlighted the impact of the 33-day war on the Israeli occupation, noting that despite overwhelming military force and international support, the Israeli occupation failed to achieve its objectives, resulting in a lasting psychological and strategic setback. The statement stressed that the victory solidified Hezbollah's position as a formidable force, one that the Israeli occupation and its allies must consider seriously.
The statement also underscored Hezbollah's resolve to prevent any future occupation of Lebanese territory and to resist normalization efforts with the occupation. Hezbollah paid tribute to the new generations of fighters who continue to uphold the values of Resistance, strengthened by education and an unwavering commitment to defending Lebanon.
The Islamic Resistance framed the current geopolitical shifts in the region, including the recent Operation al-Aqsa Flood, as part of a broader resistance movement. The organization reiterated its support for the Palestinian people and pledged to continue defending Lebanon against any threats, with the promise that it would fulfill its commitments with "courage, wisdom, and strength."
The statement concluded with a declaration of Hezbollah's determination to maintain the security and dignity of Lebanon, with a firm belief in the righteousness of its cause.
Iran hails Lebanese victory
Iran has marked the 18th anniversary of Lebanon's victory in the 2006 July War, asserting that the 33-day battle with "Israel" has become a symbol of Resistance against the Zionist entity.
In a statement on Tuesday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry congratulated the people, government, army, and Resistance of Lebanon, especially Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, on the 18th anniversary of the "glorious victory" achieved by the Lebanese Islamic Resistance during the 33-day war in 2006.
“The 33-day war became a symbol of the resilience and strength of the Lebanese people against the Zionist regime and will always be remembered as a great victory in the minds of the people in the region,” the ministry said in a statement.
“August 23rd, the Day of Islamic Resistance, as described by the wise leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, is ‘a day when the Resistance and Hezbollah restored dignity to the Arab and Islamic world.’ With the collapse of the Zionist regime’s hollow dominance, the robust tree of resistance against the Zionist occupiers and aggressors has grown stronger and more resilient,” the statement added.
The ministry asserted that the "brilliant victory" of the Islamic Resistance, achieved through the unity and solidarity of Lebanon's diverse sects and the collective resolve of its courageous and resilient people, has "ensured stability and security" while bringing pride and honor to both the Lebanese people and the region, especially to the Resistance front against the Israeli occupation.
