Hezbollah Secretary-General meets with Ansar Allah spokesperson
Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah discusses with the Sanaa delegation the challenges meeting the armistice in Yemen and the latest regional developments.
Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah received on Friday the head of the Sanaa negotiating delegation and the official spokesperson of the Ansar Allah movement, Mohammad Abdulsalam, and the delegation he is heading in Lebanon.
Abdulsalam and the Yemeni delegation he is heading discussed with Sayyed Nasrallah the issue of the armistice between the Sanaa government forces and Saudi Arabia, in addition to existing solutions to outstanding issues.
The parties to the talks discussed the latest political developments in the region and Yemen in particular, especially regarding the ongoing negotiations and the latest developments within the country.
During the Dialogue of the 40th Anniversary with Al Mayadeen, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah underlined that when it comes to the US-backed Saudi-led war on Yemen, Hezbollah cannot play a mediation role as it openly takes sides; that of the Yemeni people and Ansar Allah.
Considering that a mediator usually asks for concessions from the parties involved, Sayyed Nasrallah conjectured what concessions could be demanded from Ansar Allah.
The armistice announced between the Saudi coalition and Yemen entered into force on April 2 and was extended on June 2.
At the time, the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced that "under this truce, all offensive military operations, by land, air, and sea, will cease."
He explained that the terms of the armistice agreement include facilitating the entry of 18 ships carrying fuel to the ports of Al-Hudaydah and allowing two flights to and from Sanaa airport every week.
However, the Saudi coalition continuously violates the terms of the truce, flying reconnaissance planes, shelling civilians' homes, targeting army and popular committees' sites, as well as seizing Yemeni fuel ships, and looting Yemen's wealth.
A Yemeni military official said last week that the Saudi-led coalition of aggression forces and their mercenaries committed 150 violations of the UN-brokered humanitarian and military truce within 24 hours, Yemeni news agency SABA reported.
The official said the coalition committed 45 violations by flying armed and reconnaissance warplanes over Marib, Taiz, Hajjah, Al-Jawf, Saada, Al- Hudaydah, Al-Dhale'a, Al-Bayda, and the border fronts.
