Immigration mess continues; more buses sent from Texas to Philadelphia
The move is part of ongoing efforts to thwart off an immigration crisis that is believed to have been triggered by the Biden administration's "open border policy."
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Friday that Texas is continuing its spree of sending buses filled with immigrants from the US-Mexico border to the city of Philadelphia.
The move is part of ongoing efforts to thwart off an immigration crisis that is believed to have been triggered by the Biden administration's "open border policy."
In the past 10 days alone, four buses carrying 150 immigrants arrived in Philadelphia, and on Friday morning, another two buses arrived in Philadelphia.

"President [Joe] Biden’s continued dereliction of duty has forced Texas to ramp up border security efforts. We will continue to protect our country from Biden’s dangerous open border policies," Abbott said on Wednesday via Twitter, in response to earlier reports of immigrants arriving in Philadelphia.
The mayor of Philadelphia, Jim Kenney, accused Abbott on November 15 of "using immigrant families -including women and children - as pawns to shamelessly push his warped political agenda."

On November 14, Abbott announced he invoked the Invasion Clauses of the US and Texas Constitutions in his latest effort to protect the Texas-Mexico border following two consecutive record-breaking years of illegal crossing into the US.
I invoked the Invasion Clauses of the U.S. & Texas Constitutions to fully authorize Texas to take unprecedented measures to defend our state against an invasion.

On January 25, it was revealed by Customs and Border Protection that a record of more than 2 million immigrants was detained at the border in 2021.
Moreover, in the fiscal year 2022, US border authorities reported that 2 million migrants were arrested along the border.
According to Sputnik, Texas has been deploying armored personal carriers and reinforcing security along the borders.
The report from the Philadelphia Inquirer states that all immigrants are allowed to remain in the US while they pursue personal claims in federal immigration courts.
The great majority are applying as asylum seekers, the report adds.
Most of the migrants who arrived in Philadelphia were reportedly from South American countries, such as Colombia, Cuba, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.
Some of them have come to connect with family members in other states, the report says.
The bus trips reportedly started off after officials announced via loudspeaker at a border facility in Del Rio, Texas, that trips to Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia were being provided for free.
