Int'l condemnations after military academy attack in Syria
World leaders offer their condolences to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, condemning the recent terrorist attack on the Homs Military Academy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his condolences to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Friday following the terrorist attack on a military academy in the city of Homs in Syria, that killed over 100 people.
Posted on the Kremlin's website, Putin stated in his message: "Please accept our sincere condolences in connection with the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack on a military school in the city of Homs. We strongly condemn this cruel crime, among the victims of which there are many women and children. We hope that its organizers will suffer the deserved punishment."
Putin added that Russia intends to closely cooperate with Syria in fighting terrorism and its manifestations.

Belarus
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko expressed his country's condemnation of the attack in Homs through a cable sent to Syria.
“The meaningless crime ended the lives of those young Syrians whose aim was to defend the interests of their homeland and return it to peaceful life,” the cable said, as Lukashenko stressed that there is no justification for terrorism and its attacks and that it should not go by unnoticed by the international community.
Lukashenko expressed: “At this difficult moment, we mourn with the brotherly people in Syria and express our support and sympathy to the families of the victims, and we also wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
Iran
On its part, Iran expressed its condolences through Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian who spoke on behalf of President Ebrahim Raisi condemning the attack.
According to the SANA Syrian news agency, Raisi criticized the powers and nations that support terrorism.
Amir Abdollahian, alongside Raisi, offered his condolences and the Iranian people’s condemnation.
Syria's Foreign Minister Faysal Mekdad thanked Raisi and Amir Abdollahian on behalf of himself and al-Assad, ensuring Syria and Iran's determination to fight terrorism.
Venezuela
In its statement, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry relayed its condolences to the families of the martyrs, hoping for a quick restoration of peace.
It noted that Venezuela rejects the terrorist attacks which have brought tragedy to the Syrian people.
UAE
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE expressed its condemnation of the Homs attack and its permanent objection to all forms of terrorism meant to undermine security, peace, and stability in contravention of human values and principles.
The Ministry sent its condolences and sympathy to the government, the people of Syria, and the affected families, in addition to its wishes for a quick recovery for all the wounded.

"Armed terrorist organizations targeted the graduation ceremony for officers of the military academy in Homs," a military statement reported on by the state-owned SANA news agency said.
The Syrian Arab Army decried the "cowardly... unprecedented" attack and underlined that they would "respond fiercely to all terrorist organizations wherever they are," pledging to hold the perpetrators and the masterminds behind the attack accountable.
The condolences follow the same day after Al Mayadeen's correspondent to Syria reported that the funeral processions of the Homs military academy martyrs have commenced at the military hospital in Homs.
The funeral procession of the 28 martyrs was also reportedly attended by the Syrian Minister of Defense Ali Abbas.
The Defense Minister, who was attending the graduation ceremony yesterday, told journalists, commenting on the terrorist attack: "We pay this price for our country's dignity, may God have mercy on the souls of the martyrs."
