IOF army admits: Settlers crossed border into Lebanon, set up tents
Israeli media expose the alarming violation from the Israeli side, as settlers from the "Ori HaTzafon" movement (The Northern Skins), breached Lebanese territory.
The Israeli occupation army has, for the first time, acknowledged that settlers successfully crossed the border into Lebanon and erected tents, claiming the area for settlement.
Israeli media exposed the alarming violation from the Israeli side, as settlers from the “Ori HaTzafon” movement (The Northern Skins), known for advocating settlement in South Lebanon, breached Lebanese territory.
Initially denied by the Israeli army, an internal investigation confirmed that settlers crossed several meters beyond the Blue Line and audaciously set up tents on Lebanese soil. This provocative act, met with delayed acknowledgment, underscores yet another Israeli violation of the current ceasefire.
In response, an Israeli army spokesperson described the incident as "a dangerous breach under investigation," warning that "any attempt to approach or cross the border into Lebanese territory without coordination poses a severe threat to life and undermines the army’s ability to operate effectively in the area."
The official added that "in recent weeks, several measures have been taken to seal off crossings along the border fence, and access to the border area has been further restricted."
This development comes as "Israel" continues to violate the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, more than 20 days after it went into effect. Violations include killing civilians and firing upon both the Lebanese army and UNIFIL forces.
Israeli violations escalate
In a related context, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in South Lebanon reported that Israeli occupation army tanks infiltrated deep into the town of Bani Hayyan.
This marks a clear breach, as the invading Israeli units had previously failed to enter the town throughout the Israeli aggression on Lebanon due to the fierce confrontations by the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon—Hezbollah.
In related news, the Mayor of Naqoura, Engineer Abbas Awada, stated that the systematic destruction of the town, located just 3 kilometers from the border, has escalated to 70% since the ceasefire went into effect.
Awada emphasized that prior to the ceasefire, the town had already sustained about 35% destruction. He condemned the continued violations by the Israeli army, which have exacerbated the damage despite the ceasefire.
