The Israeli occupation army announced on Monday morning the launching of a large-scale military operation targeting the city of Jenin and its refugee camp, north of the occupied West Bank.

Israeli Army Radio announced the decision was made to launch this operation in order to "subvert Jenin's armed infrastructure and detain its elements," with Yedioth Ahronoth saying the same.

Israeli media reported that the occupation Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is receiving urgent reports on the "operation", and that the aggression is being led by the commander of the West Bank Brigade in the occupation army, Avi Blut.

The occupation's media further revealed that the aggression was called "Operation Home and Garden", and that it could continue for 72 hours, and will primarily target Jenin.

Also, according to a number of Israeli media outlets, the decision was made to begin the aggression on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp following the Palestinian Resistance's use of explosives during the last IOF aggression on the city, on June 19.

The occupation's Walla! News website noted that in the past months, "the Israeli security and military establishment's focus on Jenin increased," as its presence around it was recently reinforced with additional brigades.

The refugee camp's Resistance forces had noticed the IOF's movements and undertook security measures of their own.

Resistance confronts aggression

Confrontations are currently underway between the Palestinian Resistance and occupation forces in Jenin, with the Resistance announcing its targeting of occupation vehicles using locally-made devices, while Jenin's youth lit car tires in the city and its refugee camp to impede the occupation forces' ability to record visuals and gather information.

Palestinian media, meanwhile, announced that Israeli warplanes have targeted a new post in Jenin, after targeting a residential home.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that solidarity rallies are also taking place across the West Bank in solidarity with the Jenin refugee camp.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad released a statement on Monday morning, affirming that the Israeli occupation "bears full responsibility for everything to come about of this aggression, which will fail to realize its goals," stressing that "Jenin will not surrender; Our fighters are intent on confronting [the Israeli occupation] and fight, whatever the consequences may be."

Meanwhile, Hamas affirmed, through its spokesperson Hazem Qassem, that the Israeli aggression on Jenin will fail, and will not achieve its goals, with Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh calling on Palestinians "throughout the [West] Bank to stand in support of Jenin and defend its people to foil the enemy plot."

Fatah spokesperson Monzer Al-Hayek, for his part, praised Jenin for confronting the "barbaric aggression of the Zionist terrorist government."
