Mohammad Yahya Asi Jalayta, a 20-year-old Palestinian, was killed at dawn on Tuesday after being shot by Israeli occupation forces during a raid on the al-Arab neighborhood in central Areeha in the occupied West Bank.
According to local media, Jalayta sustained fatal injuries from live ammunition during the overnight Israeli incursion. Additionally, Israeli forces reportedly fired live ammunition rounds and launched sound grenades at residents, in an escalation in the area.
In response, the Fatah Movement, Areeha Organizational District, announced a strike to mourn the martyr. His body will be transported this afternoon from his family’s home on Hisham Palace Street, passing by the old Areeha mosque before reaching his final resting place.
IOF raid Nablus, injure civilian
Simultaneously, a 32-year-old man was injured in Nablus after Israeli occupation forces stormed the old city from the Huwara checkpoint. According to the Palestinian WAFA news agency, occupation forces raided the Gulf Exchange store at the Zawata roundabout and a gold shop in the commercial market.
The raid was carried out amid live gunfire and the use of tear gas canisters.
Multiple West Bank cities, including Jenin, Tubas, Qalqilya, and Beit Lahm, were also subject to violent Israeli raids, with the IOF targeting several currency exchange stores in particular.
Israeli occupation forces escalated their incursions across various parts of the occupied West Bank on Sunday, resulting in the injury of a Palestinian child and a teenager by gunfire, while 10 others suffered from tear gas inhalation. Additionally, at least 10 Palestinians were detained, including minors, according to WAFA.
In Jenin, Israeli forces stormed the area around the Cinema roundabout and raided the Gulf Exchange store using smoke bombs, and the same store had been previously raided in August 2023 and remained closed until April this year.
In Tubas, occupation forces entered from the Tayasir checkpoint, raiding a money exchange shop using military bulldozers and several patrol vehicles.
Occupation soldiers also stormed the Qalqilya market area on Tuesday morning, though no arrests were reported.
Meanwhile, in Beit Lahm, heavy occupation forces entered from the southern entrance and moved through the town of al-Khader and the Deheishe refugee camp, according to WAFA.
'Israel' targets exchange shops under 'terrorism' pretext
The so-called "Border Guard Police" launched a campaign targeting money exchange businesses and their owners under the pretext of cracking down on funds linked to "terrorism".
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the assault is expected to expand across the West Bank, focusing on the confiscation of assets, arresting business owners, and shutting down targeted stores.
