Al Mayadeen's correspondent in southern Lebanon reported on Saturday that an Israeli occupation drone carried out an airstrike on the town of Kfarsir in the Nabatieh district.

Lebanon's Ministry of Health confirmed that the attack left one person injured. In another incident, an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft dropped a stun grenade over the town of Ras al-Naqoura.

On Friday, two people were martyred and others wounded in separate Israeli strikes on the towns of Kunin and Shukin in southern Lebanon.

The latest attacks come amid a sharp escalation in Israeli violations along the southern border. Earlier this week, Israeli forces carried out a ground incursion into the border town of Blida, killing a municipal worker, an incident that prompted Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to instruct Army Commander Rodolphe Heikal to "confront any Israeli incursion into liberated Lebanese territories."

Aoun condemned "Israel's ongoing aggression against civilians," urging international bodies monitoring the cessation of hostilities to move beyond documenting violations and apply pressure on "Israel" to halt its attacks.

On Saturday morning, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) warned that the "fragile stability" in southern Lebanon is at risk due to continued Israeli air and ground operations north of the Blue Line. UNIFIL spokesperson Tilak Pokharel said the mission has recorded nearly 7,000 air violations and more than 2,400 military activities since the November 2024 truce, including several incidents endangering UN peacekeepers.

Cairo Initiative

In parallel with these warnings, "Israel's" Kan Broadcasting Corporation reported that Egypt has launched an intensive diplomatic initiative aimed at enforcing the ceasefire and preventing the region from "sliding into a full-scale confrontation."

According to Israeli media, Cairo's proposal seeks to ensure Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese positions known as the "five points," secure Hezbollah's commitment to a defensive posture described as "strategic dormancy," and potentially establish an Arab-Turkish mechanism to monitor the ceasefire in coordination with the Lebanese government.
