The incursion saw Israeli forces cross the Blue Line and advance nearly a kilometer into Lebanese territory, firing on a municipal building and killing 45-year-old Ibrahim Salameh, a municipal employee who was asleep inside. The attack has sparked outrage across Lebanon, with residents denouncing it as a deliberate act of aggression against civilians.
In a statement shared on X, UNIFIL reaffirmed its call for all parties to fully commit to the cessation of hostilities, stressing that "the extension of state authority through its institutions is at the very core of Resolution 1701." The peacekeeping mission confirmed ongoing coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces regarding what it described as a serious breach of the ceasefire agreement that ended the 2006 war.

Such Israeli action north of the Blue Line represents a blatant violation of the Security Council Resolution 1701 and Lebanon’s sovereignty.
Following the incident, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun strongly condemned "Israel's" repeated violations, instructing Army Commander Rodolphe Heikal to "confront any Israeli incursion into the liberated southern territories in defense of our lands and the safety of citizens." Aoun called the Blida attack part of "Israel's" "aggressive practices against civilians," warning that continued silence from the international community only emboldens the occupation's impunity.
In parallel with the ground raid, Israeli warplanes and drones carried out a series of airstrikes on southern Lebanese towns, launching more than ten missiles on areas between al-Jarmaq and Aishiya, and targeting al-Mahmoudiya.
Since the November 27 ceasefire, "Israel" has committed more than 4,900 violations across southern Lebanon, including over 2,600 aerial, 2,100 ground, and 150 naval breaches.
