Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, leading a high-level delegation to Venezuela, said his visit aims to counter hostile plots and deepen strategic cooperation between the two allied nations.
Upon his arrival at Caracas Airport on Sunday, Qalibaf was formally received by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto and other senior officials.
Speaking at the welcome ceremony, Qalibaf underscored the countries’ shared experiences in resisting external pressures, describing “the long battle of Iran and Venezuela against global arrogance” as a key unifying factor. He also warned of the continued threat posed by hegemonic powers.
Highlighting the geopolitical alignment of both countries, Qalibaf stressed that since Iran and Venezuela share common adversaries and allies, expanding their bilateral relationship has become increasingly vital.
'Iran’s victory is Venezuela’s victory'
Welcoming Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto hailed Iran as a pillar of peace and praised its leadership for showing resilience over the past 46 years in the face of US pressure and sanctions.
“Iran’s enemies have done everything in their power—from sanctions to war—but they have failed to achieve their goals,” Pinto said. “Iran’s victory is considered Venezuela’s victory.”
Qalibaf pays tribute to Bolívar
Following the official reception, Qalibaf and his delegation visited the tomb of Simón Bolívar, the revered leader of Latin America’s independence movement.
There, Qalibaf signed the memorial book, paying tribute to Bolívar’s enduring legacy and commending his defiance of colonial rule and his vision for regional independence.
