Iran announces arrest of a top international terrorist
Iran's security ministry announces the arrest of a terrorist that has committed terrorist acts in four regional countries.
The Iranian security forces have arrested a highly dangerous terrorist, the Islamic Republic's security ministry said on Wednesday.
One of "the most dangerous terrorists", he has a track record of terrorist acts in the region, Tehran added, noting that he was active in four regional states.
"The terrorist was present in Syria among the takfiri groups in Aleppo, Hama, and Idlib and was complicit in carrying out criminal acts there," the security ministry said.
He "specializes in heavy weapons, and after the defeat of his groups in Syria, he was transferred to two countries neighboring Iran," Tehran said. "The terrorist joined a terrorist group hostile to Iran and continued carrying out terrorist acts against it."
Earlier this month, the Iranian Security Ministry announced that its forces arrested 10 ISIS militants in the process of carrying out several attacks in the country.
“After its major failure in blowing up a sensitive site in the country via separatist terrorists known as Komoleh last week, the criminal Zionist regime sought to … carry out terrorist operations via its mercenary Takfiri-Daesh teams in mourning ceremonies marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS),” the statement said.
The Iranian Intelligence Ministry said late last month that members of a terrorist group associated with the Israeli Mossad were arrested by the country's security services before they could carry out acts of sabotage.
"The Mossad terrorists wanted to blow up a sensitive military site in Iran," the statement said. "Those who were supposed to carry out this plot were members of the anti-Iran terrorist group Komoleh which now works as a mercenary and proxy group for Mossad," it added.
The intelligence ministry noted that "its agents, after arresting the terrorists, let them remain in touch with Mossad’s officers in order to identify and apprehend other members of this terror ring".
