The police commander of Iran's Lorestan Province, Brigadier General Yahya Elahi, announced on Saturday the arrest of 87 individuals accused of working with the Israeli occupation. The detainees have been handed over to judicial authorities for prosecution.
According to General Elahi, the arrests were made during the recent aggression against Iran, facilitated by coordinated intelligence efforts, security cooperation, and significant public support. The individuals are charged with a range of offenses, including confusing public opinion, sabotage, contact with foreign intelligence agencies, and possession of explosives.
Brigadier General Elahi highlighted a noticeable surge in public engagement during the recent escalation.
Over the course of 15 days, security forces in Lorestan Province received more than 16,000 public reports containing general intelligence. He described this figure as a clear reflection of the growing trust and cooperation between citizens and law enforcement.
Wave of arrests
Earlier this month, Iran's IRGC announced the arrest of 50 Mossad collaborators in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
Also, late last month, Iranian security forces arrested a suspected Mossad operative in Tehran, in what authorities said is part of a far-reaching Zionist plot to undermine the Islamic Republic from within. The arrest took place at Imam Khomeini metro station, according to police spokesperson Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi, who confirmed the man was apprehended while attempting to coordinate drone-related espionage.
The suspect was reportedly "assembling drones in the province of Tehran and sending [to Israel] messages about the work of the country's air defense," Montazer al-Mahdi told state broadcaster IRIB. He also revealed that the individual had shared strategic coordinates of vital Iranian infrastructure with the Israeli regime, a serious breach of national security.
The arrest came amid a wider intelligence operation during which Iranian security agencies detained over 700 individuals linked to Mossad throughout the recent 12-day war. The crackdown represents one of the most extensive domestic counterintelligence campaigns in the country's history.
In a related development, Iranian judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir revealed the discovery of multiple hostile and mercenary networks operating across the country. Jahangir affirmed that the judiciary remains committed to taking "forceful, swift, and fair" action against those accused of treason and collaboration with foreign entities.
