Iran, Azerbaijan sign MoU to boost communication links
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on March 11, 2022, in Baku.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev approved a memorandum of understanding between Iran and Azerbaijan on establishing new communication links between the border regions of the said countries, Aliyev's office said on Tuesday.
"According to a decree of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed on March 11, 2022 in Baku between the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the establishment of new communication links between the East Zangezur economic region of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, was approved," the office stated.
The memorandum aims to boost means of communication between Baku and Tehran, maintain energy infrastructure, and ensure electricity supply. The initiative will allow the two countries to build on the inter-state border four bridges, including two roads and two railway bridges.
