Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, has refuted Israeli media reports alleging that Iranian sites in Syria were targeted.

During a news conference in Tehran, Kanaani stated that Damascus announced that the recent "criminal" attack early Monday morning, which killed 16 people and injured 36 others, was aimed at research centers affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Defense and military.

He condemned the Israeli aggression on Syria, specifically targeting Masyaf area near Hama, and denounced the Israeli attempts to link these actions to Iran as an attempt to divert from the actual situation.

Furthermore, Kanaani said, “We strongly condemn this criminal attack by the Zionist regime on Syrian soil", calling on "Israel’s" backers to “stop supporting and arming it.”

Regarding the nuclear deal, Iran's Foreign Ministry emphasized that the revival of the Iranian nuclear agreement hinges on other parties adhering to their commitments under the agreement. He reaffirmed that Iran remains committed to dialogue and views continued negotiations as a viable diplomatic path.

Kanaani also praised the strong and growing relationship between Iraq and Iran and noted that President Masoud Pezeshkian's upcoming visit to Iraq, his first official trip abroad, underscores the importance of Iraq to Iran. During the visit, Beizaiyan will engage in high-level meetings with Iraqi officials and sign security cooperation agreements.

Sources revealed to Al Mayadeen in August that the Iranian president's visit was in response to an invitation from his Iraqi counterpart Abdul Latif Rashid and would take place before his scheduled visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York.

In late August, Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadegh, Iran's ambassador to Iraq, announced that the memoranda of understanding, originally intended to be signed by the late President Ebrahim Raisi, will now be finalized during Pezeshkian’s upcoming visit to Iraq.

Upon winning the elections in early July, Pezeshkian published an op-ed piece in the Tehran Times in which he outlined his government's outlook and policy.

In the piece, he stated that his administration is dedicated to maintaining Iran's national dignity and global standing "under all circumstances."

Pezeshkian said that his policy would focus on opportunities to maintain balanced relations with all nations in line with Iran's economic and national interests, in addition to the needs of regional and global peace and security.
