Iran denounces Zelensky’s ‘rude remarks’ during US visit
The Iranian Foreign Minister Spokesperson urges the Ukrainian President to draw a lesson from the misfortune of previous political figures who were satisfied with US support.
Iranian Foreign Minister Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani criticized Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s "rude remarks" during his visit to the US.
“We have always respected the territorial integrity of other countries, including Ukraine, and Mr Zelensky should know that Iran’s strategic patience for baseless accusations will not be unlimited,” Kanaani said as quoted by Iran’s official IRNA news agency.
“We emphasize once again that the Islamic Republic of Iran has not exported any military equipment to any side for use in the Ukraine war,” he said.
Kanaani also “advised the Ukrainian president to draw a lesson from the fate of some other political leaders who contented themselves with the US support."
This comes shortly after Zelensky claimed that Iranian drones sent to Russia had become a “threat to our critical infrastructure” during a speech to Congress on Wednesday.
“When Russia cannot reach our cities with its artillery, it tries to destroy them with missile attacks. More than that, Russia found an ally in this genocidal policy: Iran,” said Zelensky.
It is worth noting that Russia has constantly denied using Iranian drones in Ukraine.
Similarly, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian had confirmed that Iran did provide a small batch of drones to Russia but that was before the Ukraine conflict broke out.
Iran has repeatedly stressed that it will not side in the war, denying all claims that it has provided Russia with weapons to be used in Ukraine.
