Iran dubs new US aid to 'Israel' 'employer’s reward for killers'
The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry says "the world harbors no doubt that the US is the primary accomplice to the Israeli regime’s war crimes."
While the United States claims to be working toward a ceasefire, "Israel" has announced receiving an $8.7 billion aid package from the US to sustain and bolster its military capabilities, pointed out Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
Israeli occupation forces continue their massive aggression against Southern Lebanon and the Bekaa region to the east of the country, killing more than 700 people since the start of the airstrikes on September 23.
Simultaneously, "Israel" continues its war on the Gaza Strip, with the number of Palestinians killed since October 7 reaching 41,534 martyrs and those injured 96,092.
"These sums are nothing but an employer’s reward for killers and murderers," Kanaani wrote Friday on X, recalling that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin "declared that Washington will never alter its commitment to assist Israel in defending itself."
"It is disgraceful that the US characterizes the killing of approximately 42,000 people over 11 months in Palestine and more than 1,500 people in just 4 days in Lebanon as self-defense," the Iranian diplomat stressed.
Kanaani also emphasized that "the world harbors no doubt that the US is the primary accomplice to the Israeli regime’s war crimes in the genocide of Palestinians and the ongoing atrocities against the Lebanese people."
The Israeli occupation Security Ministry announced on Thursday it had secured an $8.7 billion aid package from the US, including upgrading air defense systems.
"The package includes $3.5 billion for essential wartime procurement ... and $5.2 billion designated for air defence systems, including the Iron Dome, David's Sling and an advanced laser system," the Ministry confirmed in a statement.
According to the statement, the deal was concluded after a series of high-level meetings between Israeli and US officials in Washington.
Some $3.5 billion had already been received "for critical acquisitions," it highlighted, adding that the additional $5.2 billion is intended to upgrade air defense systems.
"This substantial investment will significantly strengthen critical systems such as Iron Dome and David's Sling while supporting the continued development of an advanced high-powered laser defense system currently in its later stages of development," the Israeli Ministry pointed out.
The latest US aid package to the Israeli occupation entity comes as the United States claims to be making efforts to reach a ceasefire in both Gaza and Lebanon. In early September, US President Joe Biden accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of not doing enough to secure a deal for the release of captives taken by the Palestinian Resistance in the Gaza Strip.
