Iran FM: Two-state solution will not help Palestinians
Speaking to an online Doha Forum, the foreign minister argued that the US' use of its veto power at the UN Security Council to allow atrocities in Gaza to continue indicates that Washington completely supports the Israeli occupation and apartheid.
According to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the concept of the two-state solution in Palestine will not help the Palestinian cause, since Palestine is currently occupied by Zionists.
Speaking to an online Doha Forum, the foreign minister argued that the US' use of its veto power at the UN Security Council to allow atrocities in Gaza to continue indicates that Washington completely supports the Israeli occupation and apartheid.
He recalled Iran's diplomatic suggestion for resolving the issue, emphasizing Iran's position regarding Palestine is that there should exist one state and one state only; while the Jewish population can either choose to live under this government like the rest of the citizens or travel to another country.
Iranian parliament Mojtaba Zonnouri told Sputnik in early November that "Muslim countries must come to an agreement and take practical action ... There are two options for action. According to the first option, most Arab countries favor the creation of two independent states – Palestine and Israel. Iran does not accept this scenario. Iran has the simplest and most democratic proposal ... We accept any type of one state and government formed by democratic elections."
Amir-Abdollahian emphasized on Friday the urgent need for swift and effective actions by the international community and relevant international institutions to halt the war crimes being committed by Israel against the people in Gaza.
In a phone call with the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziyad al-Nakhalah, the Foreign Minister discussed the developments of the devastating aggression on the Strip.
Amir-Abdollahian also briefed Al-Nakhalah on the recent diplomatic efforts undertaken by Arab and Islamic countries, including Iran. This includes the talks by the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi with his Russian counterpart in Moscow on Thursday.
Palestine's Amb. to China: Independent Pal state to be established
In his speech during the China-Arab States Summit held last year in Saudi Arabia, Chinese President Xi Jinping considered that the way to peace and stability in the Middle East passes through Palestine, and the historical injustice suffered by the Palestinian people cannot continue indefinitely.
President Xi added that 'there can be no compromise on the national and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people' and affirmed that China supports Palestine's full membership in the United Nations as an independent state of its own.
For years, Beijing has sought to be a mediator between Palestine and "Israel", holding several talks between both sides to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause. Last June, it hosted Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit.
Palestinian ambassador to China, Fariz Mehdawi told Al Mayadeen that China's official position remains steadfast and consistent in its principled support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of June 4, 1967. This position was recently reiterated during the visit of the Arab-Islamic ministerial delegation, and official meetings held by the delegation with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Vice President Han Jing.
