Iran FM exposes US, says it sent messages to Tehran through Baghdad
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian calls on the United States to "stop the hypocrisy and genocide against Gaza."
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian responded to the denial by the US State Department of delivering a message to Iran via Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
On his account on X, Amir-Abdollahian affirmed that the United States has been seeking a temporary ceasefire since last week, stating in response to the US State Department, "We received their message, and they are saying it is false, while at the same time they are conducting a war against Gaza and the West Bank."
"Stop the hypocrisy and genocide against Gaza," he added addressing the US administration.

Amir-Abdollahian had earlier announced that the Americans had sent a message to Iran in the past three days, expressing their desire for a ceasefire. Later on, the US State Department claimed that Blinken did not deliver a message to Iran via the Iraqi Prime Minister during his visit to Baghdad.
This came after a meeting between Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani in Tehran, where both sides agreed to continue exerting pressure on influential countries to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza, emphasizing the need for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the genocide against the Palestinian people.
On his part, Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei emphasized during his meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister on Monday the necessity for the Islamic world to increase political pressure on the United States and the Israeli occupation to stop the crimes against the people of Gaza. Sayyed Khamenei highlighted that Iraq is an important country in the region and can play an important role in this regard.
He also stressed that Iran and Iraq, through joint coordination, can play a constructive role in increasing political pressure on the United States and the Zionist entity to stop the aggression on Gaza.
Al-Sudani's visit to Iran came after his meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Baghdad, where they discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip and emphasized the need to contain the crisis and ensure it does not expand.
The Wall Street Journal mentioned that Washington is intensifying its efforts to ease the Israeli bombing on Gaza even without the release of captives held by the Palestinian Resistance, despite Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressing that no ceasefire will take place in Gaza unless captives are released.
