Iranian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed several Israeli aerial targets near the capital on Saturday evening, as part of a broader response to multiple attempted attacks launched by the Israeli occupation across the country, according to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in Iran.
The correspondent reported that Iranian defenses successfully downed Israeli drones in the northwestern outskirts of Tehran and thwarted further attempted strikes targeting the northeastern regions of the capital.
Simultaneously, hostile targets were intercepted over the southern cities of Ahvaz and Mahshahr amid scattered Israeli strikes across multiple areas of Iran. Loud explosions were heard east of Tehran as Iranian defense units responded to incoming aerial threats.
No casualties or major damages
Iranian forces also shot down Israeli drones over Karaj, west of Tehran, and in Shiraz, located in the country's south. In central Iran, air defenses in Isfahan province engaged similar threats and reportedly neutralized them without resulting in casualties or major damage.
In Isfahan, the Deputy Governor confirmed that "Israel" launched aerial assaults targeting several areas in the province, including the vicinity of a nuclear site. However, Iranian defense systems effectively neutralized the threats.
"Most of the explosions heard were the result of our air defense operations," the official explained, noting that the enemy attacks failed to inflict any casualties.
He reassured the public that no dangerous materials were released during the attempted strike, stating there is "no cause for concern."
Iran dismantles key espionage network
In a parallel security success, Iranian authorities have dismantled a significant espionage network.
Mehr News Agency reported the arrest of 22 individuals suspected of collaborating with Israeli intelligence services.
Additionally, eight spies were apprehended while attempting to flee across Iran's western border.
