Iran, Iraq reaffirm commitment to implementing security agreement
The security chiefs of the two countries discuss bilateral cooperation on the execution of the security agreement to remove anti-Iran terrorists from Iraqi Kurdistan.
Strict and full implementation of the security agreement between Tehran and Iraq is of vital importance, Iran's chief of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian said on Sunday.
During a meeting with Iraq's National Security Advisor Qassem Al-Araji in Tehran, Ahmadian emphasized that the security agreement between the two neighbors ensures the security of the shared borders and provides a reasonable and appropriate roadmap to eliminate terrorist separatist elements in both countries and the region.
He also highlighted the various agreements between Iran and Iraq, especially in the economic field, stating that there are significant opportunities to comprehensively improve bilateral relations across different sectors, adding that this can be achieved through joint and intensified efforts.

For his part, Al-Araji reaffirmed the commitment of the Iraqi government and its national security establishment to fully execute the security agreements reached between the two nations.
Commenting on the multi-sector cooperation, Iraq's NSA said his country will seize every opportunity to develop and deepen relations between Tehran and Baghdad.
An agreement between the two countries was reached earlier this year to close down the bases of the terrorist groups in Kurdistan, disarm them, and relocate them to areas away from the Iraq-Iran border, with 19 September being the final deadline to carry out the agreement.
Last month, al-Araji arrived at Erbil, chairing a senior security delegation to oversee the implementation of the security agreement between Baghdad and Iran regarding the execution of the plans to remove the armed groups from the border area.
The Iraqi Border Guards Command announced later the securing of about 1500 kilometers of its border area with Iran during al-Araji's visit.
