Iran slams US illegal occupation, attacks in Syria
The Iranian Foreign Ministry scrutinizes the US illegal presence and occupation of Syria, which has seen Washington do nothing but carry out acts of aggression.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani scrutinized on Friday the White House for lauding the recent US airstrikes on Syria, underlining that the US presence in Syria and its violation of the republic's sovereignty and territorial integrity were illegal and deserve condemnation.
Spokesperson Kanaani condemned the US airstrikes in northeast Syria on his Twitter account on Friday.
"The US has described the recent attacks by its aggressive army on Syria's popular groups and anti-terrorism forces as 'direct response to the attacks and ongoing threats against US forces'," the Iranian spokesperson said.
"The presence of the occupying US per se in Syria and its aggression against the defenders of Syria's independence and territorial integrity is illegal and condemned," Kanaani said.

The Iranian comments on the US occupation's crimes in Syria come in light of US President Joe Biden claiming that the offensives were "in self-defense".
The US occupation forces in Syria claimed early Wednesday that they carried out airstrikes in eastern Syria on areas used by groups linked to the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), which CENTCOM said, "took proportionate, deliberate action intended to limit the risk of escalation and minimize the risk of casualties."
In his statement to Congress, Biden claimed that "Iranian-backed forces" carried out two attacks on August 15, 2022, that targeted the US occupation forces in Al-Tanf Garrison and the Green Village site.
The US President then further claimed that his order to jeopardize the lives of innocent Syrian civilians came to "protect United States citizens both at home and abroad" despite Washington illegitimately being in a country across the planet.
"The United States took this necessary and proportionate action consistent with international law, and in the exercise of the United States’ inherent right of self-defense as reflected in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter," Biden alleged.
The "self-defense" in question could be in defense of the oil field the United States is constantly plundering and looting.
Deir Ezzor is a highly important region for the US occupation forces, as it lies on the borders with Iraq and contains vast oil fields.
The Syrian Oil Ministry revealed earlier this month that the US occupation forces loot the majority of Syria's oil, knowing that the daily production of the eastern oil fields is 80.3 thousand barrels.
The presence of US military forces in parts of Syria is in contravention of international laws and constitutes occupation and a violation of Syria’s national sovereignty, Kanaani previously stated, stressing that the US must leave Syria and stop plundering the Arab country's oil and grain.
The United States has been for years supporting militias against Damascus, and the US-backed forces are currently occupying parts of the provinces of Al-Haskah, Deir Ezzor, and Raqqa, where the largest Syrian oil and gas fields are located.
The US launched yestreday a new attack on Deir Ezzor, marking its second US attack in a row on Syria, following the first earlier on Tuesday.
