Iran SNSC, Qatari diplomat discuss economic, regional, global ties
During their discussions, the Iranian official pointed out the necessity of boosting bilateral trade and economic relations and the development of joint infrastructure projects.
Iranian sources reported on Monday that Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, held talks with the Qatari Assistant Foreign Minister for Regional Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, in Tehran today to discuss a number of topics related to economic cooperation as well as global and regional issues.
During their discussions, the Iranian official pointed out the necessity of boosting bilateral trade and economic relations and the development of joint infrastructure projects.
The official further brought to attention that the collective West has sought to create a rift between the two countries, which should therefore encourage both countries to raise protective barriers in order to safeguard diplomatic relations.
In turn, the Qatari diplomat hailed the China-brokered peace agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
He said that the landmark agreement marks a turning point in the security situation of West Asia.

After seven years of strained ties, Iran and Saudi Arabia announced on March 10 that they agreed to restore diplomatic relations and re-open their embassies series of talks brokered in Beijing, China, under the auspices of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud discussed the developments of the reestablishment of bilateral relations between the two countries.
During a phone call, Amir-Abdollahian and bin Farhan mainly talked about the process to restore all diplomatic ties and considered it a top priority between the two Islamic nations.
