Iran to not bow to any force in the world: Pezeshkian
Iran's president-elect pledges to be sincere with the Iranian people and fulfill his commitments faithfully.
Iranian president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed on Thursday his refusal to bow to any force in the world, emphasizing that his recent statements were not mere slogans but concrete beliefs.
He stressed that the Iranian people entrusted him with a heavy responsibility, pointing out that without the support and help of Iranians, along with the elites, experts, and workers in sectors of production, industry, agriculture, religion, and culture, he cannot achieve progress.
Pezeshkian pledged during his speech in Tehran, before members of his electoral campaign, to be sincere with the Iranian people and fulfill his commitments faithfully.
Pezeshkian is set to officially become the 9th president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with his swearing-in ceremony scheduled to take place in the parliament, also known as Majlis, on July 30, 2024.
The spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s Presiding Board, Hojjatoleslam Alireza Salimi, detailed that the ceremony will mark Pezeshkian's official assumption of office.
As per Iranian law, the swearing-in ceremony will occur following the endorsement of the president-elect's mandate by the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
The event will be attended by the head of Iran’s Supreme Court, members of the Guardian Council, the judiciary chief, and various other high-ranking state and military officials.
According to Article 121 of the Constitution, the president-elect will swear an oath to utilize all his abilities and competencies in fulfilling the responsibilities he has committed to, concluding with the signing of the affidavit.
Pezeshkian vows untangling knots under Sayyed Khamenei's supervision
Last week, Pezeshkian affirmed that he has not made any false promises and has not pledged anything he cannot achieve, emphasizing that he took office to make the country prosperous and to fulfill the promises he made.
In a speech addressed to the Iranian people, Pezeshkian indicated that he is entrusted with the votes of the electorate, underlining that he took office to be "a servant to the Iranian people."
The president-elect acknowledged that the upcoming Iranian government will assume office amid dangerous circumstances, adding, "We have a difficult test ahead because we have many challenges and crises to tackle."
He stressed the need to open a new chapter and unite for the sake of Iran, expressing hope that the legislative council will be in harmony with the upcoming government to overcome obstacles.
Pezeshkian pointed out that the Iranian people have proven their ability to achieve accomplishments, overcome difficulties, and surpass obstacles.
"We will try to untangle the knots one by one under the supervision of the leader of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic, Sayyed Ali Khamenei," Pezeshkian said.
He also revealed that the first thing he did after the official results were out was thank Sayyed Khamenei, "because were it not for the wisdom of this leader, we would not have gone thus far."
Furthermore, he affirmed his need for the support of the Iranian people and wise leadership to work amid these difficult circumstances, pledging to the late leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyed Khomeini, to continue the path of the martyrs.
