Iran warns against Israeli 'adventure' in Lebanon after Golan incident
The spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry underlines that any "reckless attack" by the Israeli occupation could expand the scope of the war.
Iran strongly warned against any "new Zionist adventure" against Lebanon, using the recent incident in the town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights as a pretext.
A missile of unknown origin struck a playground in the town, which is made up entirely of Druze Syrians, killing at least 12 civilians, including children, and wounding at least a dozen others.
"Israel" was quick to pin the blame on Hezbollah and claimed that the Lebanese group targeted the town with an "Iranian rocket".
The spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, underlined that any "reckless attack" by the Israeli occupation could expand the scope of the war and destabilize the security of the region.
He stressed that "Israel" is primarily responsible for the unexpected repercussions of such "foolish behavior".
According to Kanaani, "After ten months of mass killings in the Gaza Strip, the racist Zionist entity is attempting to mislead global public opinion and justify its crimes in Palestine through a false, fabricated scenario."
The Iranian diplomat also called on the United States to fulfill its international and moral responsibilities toward international peace and security, pointing out that supporting stability and security in Lebanon and the region in the face of Israeli aggressions is the duty of the entire international community, especially the Security Council.
Mohsen Rezaei, a former commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), said on his account on X that "[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, due to desperation or madness, thinks that by starting an adventure in Lebanon, he can get out of the Gaza quagmire, but he is moving towards a deeper and more perilous quagmire."

Following the Golan incident, Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that "Israel will not let this murderous attack go unanswered and Hezbollah will pay a heavy price for it, a price it has not paid before," according to a statement from his office.
Hezbollah denied Saturday that it targeted Majdal Shams, a Druze town where many residents have rejected Israeli nationality since the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights in 1967.
In a statement, the Lebanese Resistance group said it "categorically denies the allegations reported by certain enemy media and various media platforms concerning the targeting of Majdal Shams."
"The Islamic Resistance has no connection to this incident," it affirmed.
Later, Axios cited an American official as saying Hezbollah officials told the UN that the Golan Heights incident was the result of an Israeli interceptor missile hitting the playground in Majdal Shams.
